LANDS END TO JOHN O'GROATS

CYCLING EVENT

SEP 9-19TH 2019

LE JO'G

They made it!

On September 9th 2019, fifteen amateur cyclists rode from Lands End to John o'Groats, the entire length of Britain. (960 miles in 10 days).

2 of those 15 riders (Paul Cook, 45 and Nigel Shaddick - 51) have mesothelioma so this was a particularly astonishing achievement due to the aggressive nature of this cancer.

The team have been overwhelmed by the support received on their journey. All funds raised will go to Erase Meso raising much needed funds for research.

The riders climbed around 15,000m over the 10 days. That is around 13 times up Alpe d’Huez or almost twice the height of Everest!

You can still say "well done" by donating now. However big or small, your contribution means the world!

The legendary Sir Chris Hoy found out about the cycle challenge and very kindly sent this message of  support to our LEJOG Cycling Challenge Team.

Mark Beaumont, world-record-breaking cylist and author of "Around the World in 80 Days" sends words of encouragement to our LEJoG cycling team. His book inspired our challenge. Thanks for your support, Mark!

1000 miles in 10 days.

"This challenge has changed my life. I've lost nearly 4 stone having been training for over a year. I'm fitter and healthier than I've ever been for a fantastic cause and in support of my best friend. I'm a cyclist for life now!"

"Mesothili-what?? LE-who??! Furthest I've cycled is London to Brighton. Regretfully, I now know all about this devastating disease first hand through its impact on my good friend. Regretfully, I also know about LEJoG.

We plan to beat them both."

"Training for LEJOG has got me back into regular exercise and I no longer use asthma as an excuse to not train. I’ve completed a marathon and sailed across the Atlantic but these adventures did not prepare me for the relative ease with which I have morphed into a MAMIL now very comfortable wearing lycra in public"
